County offering rain barrel deal to residents

By MorinvilleNews.com Staff

Sturgeon County – Residents looking to save a few bucks on their monthly water bills during gardening season often install a rain barrel or two on their property. Next week, Sturgeon County is offering residents an opportunity to save money on the rain barrel, too.

County residents will be able to purchase one 45-gallon black rain barrel at a cost of $40. The barrel includes a lid with filtered screen, ball valve, garden house adaptor and overflow release.

Barrels will be available on a strictly first-come-first-served basis beginning at 8:30 a.m. July 15 at the Infrastructure Services Building located at 9902 90 Ave. in Morinville. Credit, debit and cheques accepted and proof of residency is required.

In addition to reducing monthly water bills, the use of a rain water can stimulate plant growth better than chlorinated water.
