Mischievous in Bon Accord

The Bon Accord Food Town was a target for vandals between July 18 and 19. Morinville RCMP report that someone climbed up on to the roof of the grocery store and damaged the chimneys and other roof-top structures. Entry to the business was not gained and police say the damage to the roof structures was done to vandalize rather than an attempt to gain entry.

Girl struck, driver sought

RCMP are looking for the driver of a red SUV that struck an 11-year-old girl who was crossing the street near the Integra Tire on 100 Ave.

The incident, which occurred around 10:15 a.m. on June 12, sent the child to hospital with minor injuries.

To date the driver of the vehicle, who is described as a woman in her late forties, has not reported the incident.

Gun toting vandals sought

Sturgeon County officers had an abandoned Chrysler Concorde towed from Gibbons July 22. Investigators on the scene discovered a hole in the tail light that appeared to be made by a small calibre round. Although forensic examination did not yield the presence of a round, investigators agreed the hole was likely made by a .22 calibre bullet.

This is the third instance of a vehicle being shot in the Gibbons area. Two vehicles have had their windows shot out over the past three months.

Although neighbourhood inquiries have not resulted in any strong leads, RCMP are concerned with the prospect of people driving around Gibbons shooting a firearm near to residences.

Morinville RCMP are asking for the help of the public in solving these crimes. Anyone with information is asked to call the Morinville Detachment at 780-939-4550, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
