Magician to appear at Notre Dame Elementary

Morinville – Magician Sheldon Casavant may be appearing at Notre Dame Elementary School Oct. 15, but tickets to the performance are disappearing fast. Organizers say half of the 400 tickets available are already gone.

But the rapid sales are to be expected. Magician and illusionist Casavant is considered one of Canada’s most highly sought after performers and performed to a sold out crowd at Notre Dame last fall. As such, tickets are disappearing quicker than the items Casavant comes in contact with during his show.

The production is being put on by the Notre Dame Parent Fundraising Association. PFA representative Nicole Rogers said the fundraiser will aid the school’s reading program.

“We are raising funds for our levels reading program within the school,” Rogers said, noting new readers had to be purchased for students this year. “The students get broken up into reading groups depending on what level they’re reading at. They all read as a group and once they are done one level, they move up to the next level and so on.”

Rogers said it is anticipated the cost of the readers will be approximately $4,000. Any money above and beyond the cost of the readers will be put into the PFA bank account and will be used to bring in cultural events for the students.

In addition to the Casavant’s magic show, the event will also host a silent auction, 50/50 draw and a concession stand.

Doors open Oct. 15 at 6 p.m. and the show begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 each and available as long as they last. For ticket availability and procurement please contact Nicole Rogers at 780-939-4885.
