Morinville – Riding around town on his bicycle, nine-year-old Ryan Fleming was recently stopped by Morinville Peace Officer Alaeddine. But the officer wasn’t stopping the youth to give him a lecture; he was stopping him to give the youth a pat on the back for wearing his helmet.
Fleming’s recognition is part of a new proactive program in Morinville that focuses on finding and recognizing the positive things youth are doing in our community. The Positive ticketing Program is seen by Morinville Community Services, Morinville RCMP and Enforcement Services as a dynamic approach to crime prevention and a way to increase positive connections with Morinville’s youth.
These tickets are issued to youth under the age of 18 when an officer observes someone obeying the law. Tickets can be dropped off at the Town of Morinville or the RCMP detachment for a monthly draw prize of $100.
Fleming was this month’s winner of that prize.
