Sturgeon County – Six councillors and Mayor Don Rigney were sworn into their respective offices of County Council Tuesday morning. Morinville Staff Sergeant Mac Richards performed the honours of taking the oath from councillors and mayor.

Returning to their previous posts were Mayor Don Rigney and Councillors Don McGeachy, Don McGillis, Tom Flynn, Karen Shaw and Joe Milligan. Joining Sturgeon County Council is Dave Kluthe who defeated Al Homeniuk by a narrow margin to replace the Division X chair held for 18 years by outgoing Sturgeon county Councillor Jerry Kaup.

In addition to Councillor Flynn being sworn in as deputy mayor, councillors were assigned a number of roles on various committees and boards.

Outgoing Division 4 Councillor Jerry Kaup, who served Sturgeon county Council for 18 years, was presented with a gift from Mayor Don Rigney as well as his sign from his years on County Council.
