Morinville – The Town of Morinville is looking for residents to participate in a number of Municipal Sustainability Plan (MSP) workshops set for Friday and Saturday of this week at the Town Offices in St. Germaine Plaza.

Project Manager Kim Wieringa said feedback to the Environmental Scan Survey the town ran a couple weeks ago was strong and that the information received will be used to guide this weekend’s workshops.

These workshops will focus on what walking through the streets of Morinville will look like a quarter of a century down the road from the perspective of what Morinvillians would like to see 25 years hence.

Two MSP workshops are scheduled for Nov. 19 – one running from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., the other from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The agenda for both is looking at where Morinville is now and where it wants to be. The sessions will also address the various pillars used in sustainability planning: social, cultural, governance, environmental, economic and infrastructure.

Saturday offers residents an opportunity to participate in two MSP workshops running from 9 a.m. until noon and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The morning session is a focused planning discussion to develop priority actions and targets for the social, cultural and governance pillars of the plan. The afternoon session, also a focused discussion group will examine the environment, economic and infrastructure pillars.

A light lunch will be served for those interested in attending and participating in both sessions. Those wishing to participate should contact Kim Wieringa at 780-939-7837 by Nov. 17.

Information gained through the sessions and workshops will be used in the draft [em]Morinville 2035 Municipal Sustainability Plan[/em].
