Congratulations and thanks to Chief Clark
Sturgeon County Fire Chief Bart Clark officially retired Friday after a 37-year career in municipal fire services. Clark began as a volunteer firefighter with the Fort Saskatchewan Fire Department in 1974 and became a professional fire fighter with Dow Chemical who had their own crew of 48 firefighters. He continued to volunteer with the Fort fire department.

In 1984 he left Dow and took a job as a fire services instructor in Vermillion with the Alberta Fire Commissioners Office at the Alberta Fire Training School. Five years later, Clark relocated to St. Albert and took a position with the St. Albert Fire Department as Deputy Fire Chief.

In 1998 he accepted the position of Fire Chief with Sturgeon County, a brand new position that he held until last Friday. During his time with Sturgeon County Chief Clark commanded several large scale wild fire incidents (2001, 2002, and in 2009) within the county.

Chief Clark’s professionalism and career will be honoured with a special evening in early February.
