Sturgeon County – County Council voted on and approved several Sturgeon County residents to a number of boards Tuesday morning. In total, 11 residents were elected or acclaimed to fill seats on six Sturgeon County boards and committees.

Returning to the Agricultural Services Board is Terry Anderson whose term expired Dec. 10, 2010. Anderson was chosen over applicant and former Sturgeon County Councillor Jerry Kaup.

Kaup was elected and appointed to fill one of two vacancies on the County’s Subdivision Development Appeal Board (SDAB). He will be joined by Neil McDougal. Other applicants to the board were Lawrence Kluthe, Len Kozak and Willem Spaans. Councillor David Kluthe did not participate in the ballot for the SDAB due to a family connection with one of the applicants.

Ed Basarba was the only applicant for a vacancy on the Sturgeon Valley Area Structure Plan board. Other acclamations occurred on the Community Services Board. Catherine Cake will fill a vacant position representing Division 1 and Neil Thompson will fill a vacancy representing Division 3. A second applicant for Division 3, John Bowes, was ineligible due to having already served two terms in the position. Thompson was also appointed to the Calahoo-Villeneuve Gravel Extraction Committee and was the only applicant to fill a vacancy there.

Five applicants were considered to fill four positions on the Sturgeon County’s Economic Development Board. Gordon Putnam, Tam Anderson and Willem Spaans were appointed to three-year terms and James Porter was appointed to a one-year term. The fifth applicant was Dar Schwanbeck.
