Legal – The Legal Vipers 2010-2011 season came to an official end Friday night with their second consecutive playoff loss to the Onoway Ice Dogs. The 4-1 loss followed on the heels of a 5-2 loss the previous weekend to give the Ice Dogs the series.

After struggling to defeat Onoway over the past couple of seasons, the Vipers managed to earn a 5-4 victory over the Ice Dogs Dec. 10. It was a recipe the Vipers were unable to replicate in either game of the series.

The Feb. 5 contest ended in a 1-1 and 2-2 tie in the first and second periods respectively; however, the Vipers were unable to answer any of the three goals Onoway accumulated in the third period. Saturday night’s 3-goal margin was more of the same and put the finish to the season for the Legal Vipers, who never seemed to click this season.

The Vipers struggled through the second half of the 22-game season. After building to an impressive 8-3-0 record by the end of November, including a five-game winning streak, the club reversed engines from that point on, losing eight of their remaining 11 games to end the season at .500 hockey and an 11-11-0 record.
