Wolves dominate opening day of invitational tournament

Morinville – The MCHS Wolves began their Morinville Wolves Invitational Basketball Tournament Thursday. The tournament runs until Saturday.
Both the Sr. Boys and Sr. Girls dominated int heir opening games Thursday afternoon.

The Sr. Boys opened the tournament with an 86-19 victory over the Edwin Parr High School Pacers. The boys built their lead over four quarters, advancing from a 24-4 lead at the end of the first quarter to a 67-point lead by the end of the game.

The Sr. Girls team started the weekend tournament with a 56-31 victory over the Fort Saskatchewan High School Stingers. Like the boys, the girls built their lead through four quarters, starting with a close 15-13 lead at the end of the first quarter and increasing it to 56-31 by the end of the game.

The boys and girls teams advance tot he next round Saturday. The Sr. Girls play at 9 a.m. Saturday morning, the Sr. Boys at 10:45. The final championship game is set for 4 p.m.
