Morinville – A shootout victory Saturday night gave the Morinville Titans their second victory in a best-of-three series against the Edmonton Ice and propelled them to the third round of Noralta Junior Hockey League playoffs. But just who the titans will take on in the semi-final series remains to be seen.

The Titans entered the second round of playoffs Feb. 26 with a disappointing 9-6 loss to the Ice, a game that had four minutes whittled off the clock to fit the contest into a league rule on time limits. However, the Titans battled back with a 4-2 victory Mar. 1 to bring the series to a game apiece.

Saturday night’s contest took the Titans to Edmonton where the score was 4-4 heading into the shootout. The Titans were successful in two of their three shootout attempts, enough to secure them the victory they needed to go ahead to the semi-finals.

Just who the club will square off against in the best-of-three series remains to be seen. Second round playoff games continue through to Mar. 9. Only one other series has been concluded. The Beaumont Brave defeated the SWZ Sentinels in two straight. Still to be decided are two series: The Edmonton Avalanche / Seera Icemen series and the SWZ Oil Kings / Seera Stealth series.
