Morinville – A teenage girl was airlifted to hospital last night after being struck by a pickup truck while she was crossing 100 Street near the Mac’s Convenience store.

The incident occurred at approximately 9 p.m. Her injuries were serious enough to warrant her removal from the collision scene by air ambulance.

Morinville RCMP Staff Sergeant Mac Richards said the collision is still under investigation and that alcohol had been ruled out. Speed is also not believed to have been a factor at this time; however, RCMP are calling on the public who may have been third party witnesses to the incident to possibly shed some light.

“We have the vehicle, we have all the other people that were involved – we’re just looking for other people who are independent to the collision,” Richards said, adding last night’s collision was not a hit and run as some have surmised.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact the RCMP at 780-939-4550.
