Letter: Chauvet elected Legal Chamber president

Dear Editor:

The Legal and District Chamber of Commerce elected Ernest Chauvet as its president at the May
11th meeting. Mr. Chauvet is well known in the community having spearheaded the finding of
the funds and negotiating the rental agreements for the construction and operations of the
debt free Community Cultural Center in Legal. He is also known for his role in making Legal the
per capita Mural Capital of the World. The new president is inheriting a Chamber that has a
solid foundation with over 100 members and an excellent communication tool with the local
Legal-Lerie monthly newsletter.

Mr. Chauvet is happy with the new board that has a good mixture of new and experienced
members. Finding a doctor to serve the community is the number 1 priority that he sees for
the Chamber in the coming year. Mr. Norm Ouellette will lead those efforts, for the Chamber,
hopefully in a co-chair role with a member of the Town Council. The second priority is assisting
the local restaurants increase their clientele. To achieve this end Mr. Chauvet hopes to bring is
5000 visitors in the summer of 2012.

The other priorities will be drawn up following a phone survey to its members. The survey is
scheduled for this summer.
