Morinville – A vintage piece of fire gear was unloaded at the Morinville Fire Department Tuesday night, arriving just in time to play a role in this Saturday’s St. Jean Baptiste Festival parade.

The pristine 1903 Massey Harris Fire Wagon will be pulled behind a horse as it was more than a century ago when it was actively combating fires.

The antique equipment will be joined by the department’s 1950 Dodge Pumper and recently-acquired $1.2 million 2011 Piece Aerial truck.

The Morinville Fire Department will celebrate the centennial by depicting a full century of fire gear in the parade.

Modern firefighting techniques will be displayed later in the day with the annual firefighters Combat Challenge, sponsored this year by Alliance Pipeline.

The St. Jean Baptiste Festival Parade takes place at 10 a.m. and the Combat Challenge from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
