A weekend of fun begins

St. Jean Baptiste Festival got underway Friday night with plenty of activities in festival square. Saturday will be the big day of events in festival square and around town.

Ready for combat - Crews erect the Combat Challenge tower Friday afternoon. This year’s configuration had two flights of stairs allowing two firefighters to compete in the challenge at the same time. The event takes place Saturday between 2 and 4 p.m. behind the church.
A younger Elvis - Five-year-old Elvis tribute Artist Brayden Black rocks the Smith Music stage behind G. P. Vanier Friday night. The young Elvis act garnered the respect of local Elvis Tribute Artist Rick Johnsen who came up to see the young man perform.
A slippery slope - Eight-year-old Kevin Hessell enjoys a ride down the giant slide during Friday night’s Wildrose Shows Rock ‘N’ Ride. For $20 kids could ride the night away between 4 p.m. and midnight. The midway will be open throughout the weekend.
Bjarnason Airplane- Three-year-old Teagan Bjarnason was all smiles for her mom and dad as she made the rounds on the airplane ride.
