Morinville – Prior to Friday’s writer’s workshop at the Morinville Community Cultural Centre, children’s author Marty Chan will be launching his new book, Barnabas Bigfoot – A Close Shave. The Morinville appearance and signing will be the first exposure of the work, hot off the presses.
Chan, who lived in Morinville from age 5 to 18, said the community has formed a model for many of his children’s books, particularly his mystery series.
But A Close Shave is the first in a new series for Chan, one that focuses on the main character, Barnabas, a Sasquatch living in the woods of BC far away from the streets of Morinville.
“It’s about a young Sasquatch named Barnabas Bigfoot who unfortunately has very small feet for a Sasquatch and he feels self-conscious about his feet,” Chan explained. “He comes across a mad scientist who is trying to cure male baldness, and he believes the secret to the cure is in Sasquatch hair.”
Chan will be launching his new book from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Morinville Community Cultural Centre. Those interested in learning about the new children’s book or meeting Chan are invited to attend.
