Morinville – Jets both old and new donned their jerseys Saturday for a day of hockey that celebrated the Junior B team’s more than three decade run in the community as well as paid tribute to Morinville and area’s military families.

The day-long event comprised two Morinville Jet alumni games, two minor hockey games, and the evening’s main event – a regular season game between the Jets and the visiting St. Albert Merchants.

For the latter occasion, the Jets donned military-style camouflage jerseys, each with a player’s name on the back, and each auctioned off at the end of the evening to raise funds for the Military Family Resource Centre. Additionally, a silent auction was held during Saturday night’s game to raise funds for the Morinville Jets 2011-2012 CJHL season. Amounts raised were not available by MorinvilleNews.com deadline.
