Centennial committee has spooky event planned for weekend

By Étienne Thevou

Morinville – It’s be there of be scared this Saturday as the Morinville Centennial Committee presents Boo in the Barn, an afternoon-long family event for ghosts, goblins and fun.

Organizer Monica Bradley said Boo in the Barn is a great event for families to come out and have a spooktacular time. “It’s a safe, fun and inexpensive way to come and have some ghoulish tricks and tasty treats,” Bradley said, adding the event is a first for Morinville. “We’ve partnered with local organizations and business to bring this out to the members of our community. We’re continuing to show surrounding towns and cities what a town of our size can offer their community members.”

The afternoon-long event takes place at the Sturgeon Agricultural Centre, three miles east of Highway 2 on Cardiff Road. It runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and admission is $5 per family up to six people.

Participants are encouraged to get dressed in their best Halloween costumes and come out for a fun afternoon. MorinvilleNews.com / Monday Morning News will be on hand to photograph those in costume with our readers determining the best costumed individuals and families. The winner will appear on the cover of our Oct. 17 edition of Monday Morning news.

In addition to the tricks and treats, the Morinville Public Library board will be on hand to read some spooky stories to children.

  1. I love that Morinville can put on events like this. This is still a small community and events like this bring people together. Well done Monica and the Morinville Centennial Committee.

    • Today is a holiday. Photos of the six finalists will be online for Tuesday morning’s online edition.
