Morinville Public Elementary School held its first Remembrance Day ceremony on the morning of November 8th at the Parish Hall. Morinville Mayor Lloyd Bertschi and Sturgeon School Division Superintendent Michéle Dick attended the event which opened with the singing of O Canada, led by the Headstart students. The ceremony included a message from the military by Captain Mary Francis Jasper, some fantastic, creative presentations and songs by the students, and a special reading of A Child’s Garden: A Story of Hope, written by Michael Foreman, read by MPES Principal Wayne Rufiange. This was followed by the playing of the Last Post and a minute of silence. Each of the classes have made a wreath of poppies and hand prints that will be presented to the family of Master Corporal Byron Greff in honour of the brave soldier.
