Jets shut out Warriors

Edmonton – Eskimo Dennis finally got the shut out he had been predicting all season when the Morinville Jets humiliated the Beverly Warriors (13-6-1) with a 3-0 shutout in their own barn.

The Wednesday night victory went a long way in redeeming the Jet’s quite embarrassing 3-2 shootout loss to the up-until-then winless Stony Plain Flyers Sunday night.

Wednesday’s game was an important Capital Junior Hockey League West Division contest as both the Jets and Warriors were fighting for top spot in the division. Both clubs had 19 games under their belt and the Warriors trailed the Jets by just one point in the standings. Wednesday night’s victory propels the Jets forward another two points, widening the first and second place tallies by three points. Had the Jets lost, they would be in second slot and trailing the Warriors by a point.

Although period breakdowns were not available by MorinvilleNews.com press deadline, the victory, however it was built, propels the hard-fighting Morinville club up the league ranks to second place overall, one point ahead of the Edmonton Royals who have two less games played to date.

The Jets next take to the ice Sunday night in Morinville, taking on the Spruce Grove Regals (12-6-1). Game time is 6:45 p.m. at the Ray McDonald Sports Centre.
