Morinville – Local students have an opportunity to show their creative talents while promoting Canada Career Week and earning a chance at some prizes. Career Employment and Counselling Services (CECS) are sponsoring the contest; open to Morinville, Gibbons, Bon Accord and Legal students from Grades 6 to 12. Entry deadline is Dec. 8.

“The CECS poster contest is a great way for local area youth to begin envisioning what their future career might look like,” said CECS Employment Advisor Kelsey Hynes. “By designing a poster surrounding the theme Design Your Own Future, students can explore their likes, their interests, and their values, and begin to combine those attributes into a career that they would be successful in.”

Hynes said CECS are re-launching their annual poster contest as a way to help area youth connect to Canada Career Week. The employment counselling service believes strongly in assisting youth in achieving their career and life goals.
CECS have partnered with Servus Credit Union in Morinville who donated $100 for the top winner in both categories: Grades 6-8 and 9-12. Winners will also have their poster on display at the CECS office as well as having their name and poster published on MorinvilleNews.com and in the pages of Morinville’s Monday Morning News.

In addition to the first prize of $100, second and third prizes are being offered. Second prize is a $50 iTunes card and third prize is a movie night out pass.

Contest packages are available from school guidance counsellors or from the Career Employment and counselling services office on 100 Street in Morinville (next door to Mac’s Convenience Store). Application form is available by clicking here.
