Morinville – The Morinville Christmas Festival Committee was honoured with the task of judging the best dressed desk of Town of Morinville employees. The judging took place Monday morning and desks and cubicles in the Community Cultural Centre and Parish Hall were judged according to a rating system of originality, overall presentation and desktop decoration.
First place went to Amy Dribnenky of Family and Community Support Services. For some of us, since we spend so much of our time at the desk and in our cubicle why not decorate it for that Christmas holiday spirit. From the decorative mouse pad, to a red plate and large festive cup on her desk, tree and other decorations her work space can make the Christmas spirit come alive and put everyone in a jolly mood till the holiday season ends. Second place involved a discussion amongst the judges. One judge had a tie for second place and the other judges had them at only one point difference. Jennifer Maskoske took second place with her Christmas theme and the detail in the decor.Third place went to Tracy Reaume, whose festive desk stands behind judge Ruthanne WeeksThen there is always one for that unique factor and that went to Greg Hofmann of Planning and Development with an Honourable Mention. Hofmann's desk had two small white papers with the words, Ho Ho Ho and No No No.”
Linda Getzlaf of RE/MAX Real Estate, one of this year’s judges, said she Hoped there will be more entries next year. Ruthann Weeks, Events Coordinator Community Services and Chair of the Morinville Christmas Festival was also one of the judges and said the fun event helps to build rapport.
Some decorations were very fun and whimsical, others more simple. Karen Morrow had a nice small green handmade Christmas tree on the wall at her desk.
The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners each received Tim Hortons cards.
