Morinville – Dalen Paul and Tyler Nault carried the Jets to their first victory in three outings Sunday night. Nault’s contribution came with 10:43 left in the third period when he brought the game to a 2-2 tie with the visiting Edmonton Mustangs. Paul’s contribution came when he was the only one to ripple the mesh during a shootout.
The Jets finished the opening frame tied 0-0 with the Mustangs, but fell behind in the second period 2-1. That frame saw a couple line brawls in the closing seconds of the period, and several more brawls after the buzzer. But the Jets emerged in the third period set to bring the game to a tie, something, Nault pulled off half way through.
Sunday night’s victory brings the Jets to 16-6-2 this season and gives them two much needed points as the club moves through the final games of the season. The Jets are still in first place in the West Division of the CJHL and in third slot overall.
This week sees the Jets in Edmonton for a rematch with the North Edmonton Red Wings Wednesday night, taking on the Strathcona Bruins Friday night in Morinville, and then travelling to St. Albert to take on the Merchants Sunday night. Friday night’s home game is set for 8:30 p.m.
