Country songs and Santa highlight seniors’ party

By Lucie Roy

Morinville – Jukebox Leigh’s Western Cabaret of songs featuring favourites from the world of country, country rock and other golden eras was the entertainment at the Heritage Lodge’s Resident’s Christmas Party Dec. 13. The singer included the audience, having little teddy bears for some of the residents, and having others come up and dance with him.

Some of the many songs brought back memories for residents who got up to dance or were happy to sing along with the artist. Songs included Ring of Fire, Six Days on the Road, White Cliffs of Dover, Your Cheatin’ Heart, White Lightning and All of Me.

The dining room was packed with the many residents, family and friends who were invited to take part in the festive celebration. Snacks and refreshments were served by management and staff as they listened to the music.

Here Comes Santa Claus and White Christmas were sung to announce the arrival of Mr. and Mrs. Claus. The youngest to visit Santa was two-month old Zachary Hunwick, but none were too young or too old to have their picture taken with Santa. One by one residents who partook of the gift exchange took their turns visiting Santa and picking up their gift.

Mayor Lloyd Bertschi was also on hand to help with the celebrations and Councillor Paul Krauskopf also made an appearance at the event.
