Morinville – Edmonton Opera Mezzo-Soprano singer Krista Lessard and accompanist Shalee Konojack performed an evening of Christmas piano and vocal classics at the Morinville United Church Dec.18. The performance, called Joy to the World, was the second year Lessard and Konojack performed a Christmas concert at the church.

The performance included a two part program, with seven songs in each. Songs included Ave Maria, Hark the Herald Angels Sing, Silent Night, Panis Angelicus, Gesu Bambino, Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming. The titular song Joy to the World was saved for last with everyone joining Lessard in its singing.

A Mezzo-Soprano is a type of female voice lower than the Soprano but higher than the Contralto.

Admission to the event was free; however, donations to the Morinville Food Bank society were collected.
