Morinville – The Morinville Community High School Lady Wolves were not the only girls to take gold over the weekend – the MCHS Cheer Team also took top honours in a weekend competition.
“Our little but powerful team of Katrina Thrussell, Ariana Campbell, Emma Newborn, Justice Whalen-Brown and Morganne Plsek took home gold in the Small Varsity division of the Cold Snap Cheer Competition at the Edmonton Expo on Saturday afternoon,” said MCHS Cheer Team Coach Amanda Mantyka, adding the cheer team beat out four other teams to take the gold.
Mantyka said she and fellow coaches Vanessa Wolfram and Allison Vickers could not be more proud of their group of talented, dedicated and hard-working young women.
But they are hoping to have more to cheer about soon. The team will be competing in Edmonton this coming Friday at Victoria Composite High School and then in Athabasca on Saturday at Cheer Fest / North Zones.
