Passing the bucks
Tyrone Steel Ltd. has hosted an annual golf tournament for more than 10 years. This year’s tournament was held at Goose Hummock and drew 45 golfers this year. Every year a charity is selected and money from the silent auction and the purchase of Mulligans is donated to the selected charity. This year’s recipient was Sturgeon Victim’s Services who received $1,000.


Eyes on kindergarten
Christine Atkinson, Director of Marketing for Morinville Vision Care, said children should get their eyes examined before starting Kindergarten Tuesday night. Ready to run

Coins for change
Georges P. Vanier Elementary School student Sheylynn Paziuk adds a little money to the Coins for Change in Nicaragua jar on Wednesday morning. The initiative is in support of the Greater St. Albert Catholic Regional School Division Service Project – Roots of Change Foundation. From Jan. 30 until Feb. 8 students took part by bringing in a twoonie, loonie or other spare change to fill a jar for Nicaragua. What a spiel

The 2012 Sturgeon County Senior’s Funspiel started Thursday morning at the Morinville Curling Club. On sheet 4 at the end of the 2nd the Kotchon team placed one rock right on the button. They were playing versus Fenton. Pauline Kiriak, event organizer, said 16 teams registered with 64 players aged 50+ plus. Players are guaranteed four games of six ends each over the two days.
