Mischief at Tiny Tots in Morinville

Police are still looking for information as to who vandalized the Morinville Tiny Tots on 99 Avenue. Sometime between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Jan. 4 an unknown individual or individuals spray painted the wall of the building with the word CORRUPTION.

The Morinville RCMP are asking for public’s help in solving this crime. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the Morinville Detachment at 780-939-4520 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 if they wish to remain anonymous.

Watch out for charity scams

Morinville RCMP remind residents and businesses to be wary of false charity scams. Police are advising residents of the things to ask and look for when a canvasser comes knocking looking for donations:

Residents should ask for written information about the charity, including name, address and telephone number of the organization. Police say a legitimate charity or fund-raiser will give you the information.

Residents should ask for identification. If the canvasser refuses to provide it or does not have some form or verifiable identification, police advise residents to close the door and report it to the RCMP or the Canadian Anti-Fraud Center.

Additionally, people should call the charity and find out if the organization is aware of the solicitation and has authorized the use of its name. If not, police say you may be dealing with a scam artist.
