Morinville – MCHS students and staff took to the stage at the Morinville Community Cultural Centre Thursday night for a Mardi Gras-themed coffee house. The high school puts on a coffee house talent show evening each year, raising funds for a different cause. This year’s event sought to raise funds for the MCHS Mission Trip to New Orleans.

During the school’s mission trip, set to take place during March break, approximately 21 students will work hands-on in the humanitarian work still being conducted more than half a decade after the initial devastation. Students will spend several days of the trip working in a soup kitchen and food bank as well as helping to repair damaged residences, assisting the work of the Catholic parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Thursday night’s coffee house raised money through tickets to the event and a silent auction. Amounts raised were not available by our press deadline.
