Morinville – The Morinville Jets take to the ice Wednesday night for game 1 of round 3 of playoffs. The Jets opponent in the semi-final best-of-seven series will be the Edmonton Royals, a team that unseated the league-leading Sherwood Park Knights in round 2.

Most of the first round bye teams did not make it through round 2. The CJHL regular season ended with the Jets and Warriors getting a first round bye for their first and second place finishes, respectively. The Jets emerged from the second round after defeating the Edmonton Mustangs three straight, but the Warriors fell in the second round to the Spruce Grove Regals.

In the East, the Sherwood Park Knights and Wetaskiwin Icemen finished first and second to earn a first round bye. The Knights fell in four games to the Edmonton Royals who cross divisions Wednesday night for game 1 of round 3 with the Jets. The Wetaskiwin Icemen were taken down in round 2 by the Beaumont Chiefs who will cross divisions to take on the Spruce Grove Regals.

The winners of the two series will go on to battle out the league championship in a best-of-five series.

Game 1 of the Jets / Royals series will take place Wednesday night at 8:30 p.m. in Morinville. The Jets will travel to the Bill Hunter Arena in Edmonton Friday night for an 8 p.m. game 2. The Jets return home Sunday night for a 6:45 p.m. game. Game four will take place Mar. 14 in Edmonton. Game 5 will be Mar. 16 at 8:30 p.m. in Morinville. A date and time for game 6 is not known at this time, but a seventh game, if needed, will take place Mar. 24 at 8:30 p.m. in Morinville.
