What’s on this weekend in Morinville

Morinville has a wide-variety of stuff going on this weekend and it couldn’t be any more diverse. It all begins Friday night.

Ballet Kelowna
Ballet Kelowna will be in town Friday night with a five-piece show that takes the audience through a history of ballet. From the greatest tragic love story Romeo & Juliet to the famous pas de deux from The Sleeping Beauty, A Grand Passion seeks to offer Morinville an entertaining evening of dance.

The show takes place at the Morinville Community Cultural Centre. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 seniors and students. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the performance begins at 7:30 p.m.

Musical double header
Edgore and the Flukes will be performing at Higher Grounds Friday night at 7 p.m. The two acts offer a different style of music. Edgore is a three-piece band offering some solid rock and metal; the Flukes a larger band offering a little softer sound. The performance takes place at Higher Grounds, located next door to Don’s Bistro. Showtime is 7:30 p.m.

Youth Rally
Saturday night will see the Morinville Community Cultural Centre taking an impact from local youth. Impact Youth Ministries will be bringing a Youth Rally to the centre beginning at 7 p.m.

Matt Sampson
The keynote speaker for the Youth Rally is Matt Sampson, a man who worked with Morinville Christian Fellowship’s youth group some years back.

“He has an incredible testimony,” said organizer Pastor Peter Visscher. “He had a major drug addiction through high school and that kind of thing. It just devastated his life.” The pastor said Sampson was taken in by a pastor from Kelowna who showed him what it is to be a Christian. “Just the passion and the fervor that comes from Matt based on what he came from; I think kids are really going to experience that.”

In addition to Sampson’s presentation, the Youth Rally will have other testimonies, dramatic presentations and plenty of music. The pastor said the rally is intended for youth aged 12 to 18; however, parents with younger children are more than welcome to attend the event.

Admission is free. The event is scheduled to run until approximately 10 p.m.
