Morinville Jets must win Sunday

By Stephen Dafoe

Morinville – The garbage can lids banged and the chants rolled Friday night at the Ray McDonald Sports Centre. Problem was, much of it was for the visiting Edmonton Royals who brought a fair contingent of supporters. The support seemed to help the Royals earn a 6-3 victory over the Morinville Jets and game five of the best-of-seven series.

The Royals built from a 2-0 first period lead to a 4-3 lead by the end of the second frame. That tally was added to with another two goals in the final frame, giving the Royals their second consecutive win over the Jets and the Jets their first home-ice defeat in the series.

With a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series, the Jets must win Sunday night’s road trip game to the Bill Hunter Arena. If the Jets drive the series to a 3-3 tie, game seven will be played in Morinville Mar. 21 at 8:30 p.m.
