Jets season comes to an end

By Stephen Dafoe

Edmonton – The Morinville Jets ended the 2012 playoff season Sunday night with a 4-2 loss to the Edmonton Royals. The loss was the Jets third consecutive defeat in the best-of-seven series and the one to give the Royals the series.

The club entered round three Mar. 7 after defeating the Edmonton Mustangs three straight in a best of five series. The Jets took game one of the best-of-seven semi-finals series against the Royals with a 2-1 overtime victory. The series shifted back and forth through the next three games with the Jets and Royals tied at two games apiece heading into Mar. 16’s home-ice game. Unfortunately, the Jets were defeated 6-3 to put the Royals within one of taking the series. That outcome was made a reality with the Mar. 18 road trip to Edmonton.

But while the Jets hang up their skates for another CJHL season, there is the satisfaction of having finished the regular season in first place, and having the claim to fame of having the top scorer in the league. Dalen Paul, who had achieved the same goal in his midget career with the Morinville Warriors, ended his Junior B career by once again topping his league in goals.
