Sturgeon Mustangs win gold
The Atom B team from Sturgeon defeated the Andrew Aces 8-6 Mar. 19 and followed it up with a 9-5 win at home in Legal Mar. 20 to take the gold in the 16/60 Tier 4 Final. Coach Rivard said that this team played like a team and it capped off a funtastic year. Coaches: Marc Rivard, Jeff Heard, Ted Peacock, and Mark Johnson. Where sits Legal?
The Big Valley Jamboree Small Town Staurday Night contest wrapped up at 11:59 Tuesday night. Legal’s final position in the contest that brings a big concert to the community and $5,000 towards the community’s playground remains to be seen. Details on the winner will be revealed soon.

Bill 4 passes third reading
Bill 4, the St. Albert and Sturgeon Valley School Districts Establishment Act passed third reading in the Alberta Legislature Tuesday night. once past royal assent, the bill will give Greater St. Albert Catholic Regional Division separate school status in keeping with the province’s other Catholic school divisions. it will also give Sturgeon School Division the authority to operate a public school in the community. A decision on infrastructure is forthcoming from the education Minister Thomas Lukaszuk. At a town hall meeting Mar. 15, the minister said the decision would be in a matter of days.
