Morinville – Legion member Kevin Wood’s long locks will soon be snipped away. Wood, known for his long hair but always willing to aid a good cause, has joined with other Legion members to raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society’s Fundraiser for Life.

The event is scheduled for 8 p.m. Mar. 30 at the Morinville Legion, and the public is welcome to attend. Heads will be shaved courtesy of Carrie’s Hair Salon.

Event organizer Paula Mulbery said although she has organized other events and entertainment, this is the first time organizing a fundraiser. Seven people have registered to have their heads shaved to date, including Bob Baker, Jillian and Phil Morrow, and Wood.

“These people are presently seeking funds with their sponsor forms for their head shave,” Mulbery said, noting she has received a letter of endorsement from Janice Arndt of the Canadian Cancer Society to hold the event. Monies raised from the head shave will go towards funding research for all types of cancer.

Mulbery said the Canadian Cancer Society’s Fundraise for Life is an easy method to hold your own fundraising event in support of the Canadian Cancer Society. For more information on the local fundraiser contact Paula Mulbery at 780-235-5288.
