Legal – After winning the Big Valley Jamboree’s (BVJ) Small Town Saturday Night contest, Legal volunteers have been busy making preparations for the big show heading to town Apr. 28.

The community is anticipating a big turnout for the big concert. Canadian Country Artist Dean Brody will headline the BVJ Small Town Saturday Night concert in the Legal Arena. A showcase of artists will open with a Songwriter’s Circle featuring Aaron Lines, Samantha King, Duane Steele, Shane Chisholm and Tim Hus. Danny Hooper will MC the event and run a live auction.

The Travel Alberta-sponsored event will be a combination of free and paid segments. All proceeds are going towards a community playground at Legal School.

Activities kick off at 1:30 p.m. April 28 with a Legal Family Fun Day and Silent Auction in Citadel Park. From 2 to 3 p.m. the Small Town Saturday Night kick off will take place, followed by a songwriters acoustic performance from 3 to 4 p.m. Autographs will be signed for fans from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. All afternoon events are free.

The Saturday Night part of Small Town Saturday Night begins at 5 p.m. with a barbecue beef on a bun dinner at the arena. Cost is $10 per person.

Doors open for the main show at 7 p.m. and the concert is set to run from 8 p.m. to 11:15 p.m. Fireworks will wrap up the event at 11:30 p.m.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Apr. 21 at the Legal Centralta Community Centre. A lottery system will be used to determine the front of the line at 10:30 a.m., at which point ticket sales will begin. Legal Arena Concert tickets will cost $60 each. All sales are cash only and purchasers must be at least 14 years of age and present photo ID with proof of age and address.

A portion of the tickets will be prioritized for Legal residents with the remainder available to all. Each purchaser will be allowed to purchase a maximum of two tickets per transaction, but may re-enter the back of the line to purchase further tickets.

If the Arena main concert venue sells out, and there is sufficient demand, a secondary outdoor licensed area with a live audio and video feed from the Legal Arena may be made available at a reduced ticket price. This is an event open to all ages and liquor will be sold and consumed on the premises. Due to fire regulations, in order to gain entry, every person must hold a ticket, including small children. T-shirt pre‑sales will also be available when you purchase tickets and will range in price from $20 to $30.
