Sturgeon County distributed $272,717 in grant dollars among community groups at the Sturgeon County Volunteer Appreciation Night Tuesday. A total of 33 community groups received funding, including seniors groups
from the towns of Bon Accord, Gibbons, Morinville, Redwater and Legal. Terry Cashin, Manager Community Services, said the money was a combination of grant sources from Family Community Support Services, Community Association, Arena, Outdoor Rink, Gravel Extraction, Community Enhancement, Senior Association and others.
Sturgeon County Councillors Karen Shaw and Tom Flynn presented a cheque to Joyce Brenneis for the the Mearns Community Association. Brenneis was also nominated for Volunteer of the Year.
