Morinville – The Third Quarter Awards Ceremony at Morinville Christian School Thursday night presented more than 20 students with applicable certificates for Honour Roll, Bible Club, Bullseye and two academic achievement awards – one for Distinction for marks 95 to 97 and Great Distinction for those with marks 98 to 100.

The two senior students to receive the Great Distinction Awards were Sarah-Arlene Cluett and Luke Tait. Cluett was also presented with the Bulleseye, Bible Club and Honour Roll. Raelyn Mills-Meunier also picked up four awards, the Honour Roll, Bible Club, Bullseye and the Distinction. The Bullseye is presented to those students who accomplished the goals they set for themselves. The students take responsibility for their own learning; they set their goals on a daily and weekly basis to cover the subject material in that quarter. The Bullseye is awarded to those who have met all their goals in the time they allocated themselves.

Junior student Serena Joy Dmytrow was awarded the Bible Club Certificate and was quite proud of her accomplishment for the work it entails.

Principal Lou Brunelle said the quarterly awards honour students for what they have accomplished in the last quarter.

In addition to the awards, Brunelle made an historic and significant announcement during the evening – the school would be tuition free effective Sept. 1. “This is a significant decision in these tough economic times,” Brunelle said.

The school also announced their first paperless report cards. Students opened their laptops to have a glimpse at their electronic report card and to share their marks with their parents. The students also showed the class website featuring the school activities and events.

Raelyn Mills-Meunier also picked up four awards, the Honour Roll, Bible Club, Bullseye and the Distinction.
