Morinville – Wednesday town staff, business owners, students and residents gathered together for one common cause -cleaning up Morinville. Operation Clean Sweep, Morinville’s contribution to Pitch-In Canada’s nationwide initiative to clean up our own backyards is a noble endeavour designed to make Morinville look a little better to residents and visitors.

Here are some photos of people in action.

Primeau students Rose Van Brabant and Laura-Lynn Mercier were out Tuesday for the Operation Clean Sweep event as part of the Pitch-In Canada Week. Participants, including the schools had an assigned area of town to clean up. The first group of Primeau students went towards the pumphouse, MPES also covered around the Sturgeon School Division Central office, field and train tracks. Vanier students went towards the rail tracks, Legion and the ball diamonds and Notre Dame cleaned up the ravine. The distance and area covered went with the Grade level of the students.

Vanier students Jacob Wiwchar and Joshua Meunier were out with other students cleaning along the tracks.

The Grade 4 students from Annette Holterman class were heading out for the clean- up to the ravine and having fun along the way. The ravine was surprisingly very clean this year. It has been known to have tires, bikes, shopping carts and other unusual items that require clean-up.
