Town-wide yard sale offers up some bargains

By Morinville News Staff

Morinville – The town will be full of bargains for yard sale lovers next weekend. The community’s annual Town-Wide Yard Sale takes place May 26, offering Morinvillians one big day of rooting and rummaging for the good stuff.

“It’s the time of year to clean out your garages and get rid of all the stuff that you’re not using anymore,” said Morinville’s Community Program Facilitator, Tyler Edworthy, who is organizing this year’s event.

As in previous years the event will take place at the Ray McDonald Sports Centre at 9906 104 Street as well as at private residences throughout Morinville. Edworthy said the arena can hold 55 yard sale vendors and is 75 per cent booked for tables already. Other locations are being compiled ahead of the big day. “We’ve got approximately 22 other addresses that we’re putting in the brochure right now,” he said, adding a map of the locations will be available at the arena the morning of the event. “That was one of the concerns from last year, the marketing of the event and making sure people are aware.”

There is no licence required to hold a yard sale during the May 26 event; however, anyone wishing to book a spot at the arena will pay a small fee. Edworthy said some tables are still available at the arena at a cost of $12 each, which gives yard sale vendors an 8 X 10 space. However, spots are going quickly. Anyone wishing to book a table can do so by calling 780-939-7834.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 26.
