Morinville sights and bites – weekend in photos

The weekend was an extremely busy one in Morinville with a variety of activities ranging from slo-pitch to fast shopping. Here is a sampling of what passed our lenses this past weekend.

Distracted Driving Day came to Morinville as hundreds of residents and visitors drove around the streets of Morinville looking for bargains. The arena served as the central location for the day-long event.

A 1956 Ford Customline, owned by Gregg and Janis Pilling of Edmonton stopped a lot of people in their tracks at the show.


Dart winners
Members of the Morinville Dart League held their banquet and awards night on Saturday at the Morinville Legion Hall. The team with the first place finish in the regular season was Kyle Thorburn, Jane Morrow and Cole Guenette. Absent from photo was Jordan Pachula. They also placed first in the playoffs. RCMP Constable Yelena Avoine made a presentation on the RCMP Citizens Academy at the Rural Crime Watch Spring 2012 Zone 5 General meeting held at the cultural centre Saturday. Attendees were from Crime Watch organizations of Strathcona, Barrhead, Smoky Lake, Redwater, Athabasca, Boyle and Sturgeon. Three Zone 5 representatives on the Provincial Board were in attendance as well as Billy and Dolly Bolen who made a presentation on Common Sense Security and Survival. – Lucie Roy Photo

Playin’ ball
At bat was a member of the St. Albert team.The St. Albert League Host weekend was Friday to Sunday and the Bantam AA event held three games in Morinville at the Meadow Diamonds on Saturday. Kelly Phelan, President of the Morinville Minor Ball Association said the competitive Bantam AA event was a league play and not a tournament. Teams included St. Albert, Barrhead, Grande Prairie and Westlock. – Lucie Roy Photo

    One would think there is a large work force at work bringing ALL the news and information to us.

    Most of us know however, that for the most part it is just one guy trying to be everywhere to cover everything.

    Stephen. . . . . A continued job well done.

    Ps. if you get yourself some roller blades you would get more out of those short legs.
