Morinville – The stage of the Morinville Community Cultural Centre was transformed into the hills of sunny Italy May 25 when the Alberta Opera Company brought their musical adaptation of Carlo Collodi’s classic tale Pinocchio to town.

The 50-minute show included the talents of Grant MacEwan graduate Madelaine Knight as Pinocchio, Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama graduate Byron Martin as Geppetto, and Christopher Scott as Vincenzo.

The travelling company performed an afternoon show for school children, providing an opportunity for 16 local students to join on stage and behind the scenes. Two Notre Dame students returned for the Friday night performance to fill the role of jailers.
