Morinville Community High School students and their families were treated to a little late Victorian-era farce Thursday night. Dispensing with the one act plays traditionally performed in the spring, the school put on Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest, A Trivial Comedy for Serious People.

The three-act play was directed by Brennan Fitzgerald, Katrina Thrussell and Jennifer Lesiuk. The play starred Ryan McManners as John Worthing, Rory Turner as Algernon, Christie Grant as Gwendolen, Johanna Duttenhoffer as Cecily, Moira Kelly as Lady Bracknell, Emily Dell as Miss Prism, Dylan Thrussell as Reverand Canon, Cody Mundy as Lane, Josh Dmytrow as Merriman, and Travis Loseth as Mr. Parsons.

The play was first performed in 1895.

  1. I am continually amazed at the quality of dramatic performances that the high school puts out for public consumption. These students work so very hard for months and it shows, and how lucky are we as an audience, to be able to watch them perform on the big stage at the Cultural Centre. Well done everyone!!
