Local cadets recognized


The award winners at the 13 Annual 3061 1 CER RCACC Ceremonial Review held Tuesday night at the CCC included Sapper Flett for Most Improved Cadet, Cpl Simonneau for Best Red Star, Sgt Brenneis for Best Gold Star, Cpl Brink for Best NCM Most Outstanding Cadet and Lord Strathcona Medal to MWO Taylor who was also promoted to CWO,MCPL Allard for Best Silver Star and Sapper Hurlbert for Best green Star. The Royal Canadian Legion Cadet Medal of Excellence was awarded to Sgt Keegan Spencer.

Morinville – The 3061 1 Combat Engineer Regiment Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corp Morinville held their 13th Annual Ceremonial Review Tuesday night at the Morinville Community Cultural Centre. Nine awards were presented as well as three Red Stars, three Silver Stars, four Green Stars and three promotions. Presenters included the cadet corp, Morinville Legion, Lions Club, Rotary Club and Reviewing Officer Major Holsworth of Garrison Edmonton 1 CER.


The Morinville 1 CER RCACC Commanding Officer Captain Bishop presented the trophy for the Most Outstanding Gold Star to Cadet Parade 2IC Sgt Brenneis.


Garrison Edmonton 1 CER 11 Fd Sqn Major Holsworth pinned the Lord Strathcona Medal onto the jacket of MWO Taylor. Taylor was also presented with the Most Outstanding Cadet Award, promoted from Master Warrant Officer to Chief Warrant Officer and is the first one from the Morinville Cadet Corps to go to summer camp in Scotland.
