Municipal Development Plan Approved at Capital Region Board (CRB) Level

By Greg Hofmann

The Town of Morinville’s Municipal Development Plan (MDP) is one step closer to being adopted by Town Council! On August 8th, 2012, the draft Municipal Development Plan received approval at the CRB level now enabling Town Council to move forward with the MDP approval process locally.

The CRB is a regional planning body tasked with implementing the Capital Region Growth Plan, a growth management document that sets out principles and policies for how growth should occur in the Edmonton Capital Region. The CRB must grant approval to new MDPs prior to a municipality granting Third Reading.

The next step in the MDP approval process is to set a date for the Public Hearing and consider Second and Third Reading at the next available Council meeting – likely September 11th, 2012. Stay tuned for offi cial notifi cation.
