More impaired drivers charged in and around Morinville

Morinville – Police have charged two more individuals with impaired driving over the weekend.

Police received a report around 5 a.m. Aug. 18 of a vehicle having gone off the road west of Morinville on Highway 642. On arrival the driver was believed to be under the influence of alcohol. The 23-year-old Morinville male, whose name is not being released by police, was brought to the Morinville detachment, given a breathalyzer test, and failed that test. He was charged with impaired driving and is to appear in Morinville Provincial Court Oct. 4.

RCMP responded the following morning at 2:50 a.m. to a report of a two-vehicle collision east of the high school on 100 Avenue. On arrival police discovered a vehicle stopped at the stop sign was struck by an eastbound vehicle at the stop.

The driver of the vehicle, a 16-year-old Morinville female, was arrested for impaired driving. There were two passengers aged 16 and 17 in the vehicle at the time.

No injuries were involved in either impaired driving incident.
