Morinville – Alta Gas joined Morinville firefighters and RCMP at École Notre Dame Elementary School Sunday night after a report was received of a gas smell in the playground area. Police quickly evacuated a few children playing in the playground, and firefighters moved in with an Alta Gas worker to check the cause of the smell.
The odour could be smelled in the area of the new modular classrooms. A investigation of the roof was also undertaken to find the source.
Final details were not available by our Sunday evening press deadline on just where the gas odour was coming from.
