Jets corralled by Mustangs

Edmonton – Wednesday night’s road trip to the Bill Hunter Arena was a disappointing one for the Morinville Jets. With nine players off the ice with injuries or work commitments, the club fell for the first time in six outings, losing 4-1 to the Edmonton Mustangs.

The Mustangs completely shut the Jets out in the opening frame but managed three goals of their own.

Things did not improve for Morinville in the second period as they struggled to close the gap Edmonton built for itself in the first. Despite playing hard and taking lots of chances, the Jets earned only one goal in the second. Another four scoring opportunities bounced off the post and back into play.

The third period saw both sides scoreless until the Jets pulled their goalie only to have Edmonton pick up their fourth on an empty net.

The Jets take to the road Friday night to take on the Sherwood Park Knights.
