Sturgeon County – Morinville firefighters responded to a commercial structure fire northeast of Legal Wednesday morning. The fire took place at a farm in the Township Road 575 and Range Road 244 area.
Morinville Fire Department Captain Joel Houle said the fire was well underway when crews arrived. “When we got on scene we had heavy smoke showing at that point in time,” Houle said. “Upon further investigation it was determined it was almost like a kwanzit-style structure with a single vehicle inside of it.”
Houle said his crews contained the fire to the structure itself and cooled down some exposures on some neighbouring grain bins to prevent them from catching fire.
The captain said no one was injured in the blaze and no property was destroyed other than the approximate 100 foot by 50 foot structure and its contents.
It is not known at this time what caused the fire. No estimate of damage is available at this time.
