Sturgeon Foundation Executive Director Dennis Magnusson stands in front of the new Sturgeon Foundation logo, unveiled at the 50th Anniversary Gala Celebration Thursday night.
The logo design incorporates rooftops to represent a hub of housing. The rooftops further symbolize community and the levels of service provided by Sturgeon Foundation housing. The closeness of the rooftops conveys a sense of security; the dark blue also adds to the feeling of security. The burgundy symbolizes the solid history of the Sturgeon Foundation, and the orange represents caring, warmth and happy homes.
There were 68 residents and tenants in attendance at the half century gala, seniors representing the lodges and self-contained apartments from the Sturgeon Foundation municipalities.
Guests included The Honourable Ken Kowalski who served as Master of Ceremonies. MLA Maureen Kubinec, Alberta Senior Citizens’ Housing Association’s Jeannette Leafloor, St. Albert City Councillor Wes Brodhead, Morinville Deputy Mayor Nicole Boutestein, and Sturgeon Foundation Board Chair Paul Krauskopf each offered remarks.
Other representatives included Legal Mayor Lisa Magera, Sturgeon County Councillor Tom Flynn, Bart Wyatt from the Town of Gibbons, Alex Mackenzie from the Town of Bon Accord and Rob Olsen from the Town of Redwater.
Comments on behalf of Sturgeon Foundation Management and Employees were given by Stacey Danake. Three residents: Joyce Roshko from Redwater, Jean Borle of St Albert and Stan Kaminski of Heritage Lodge in Morinville spoke of their appreciation of the Sturgeon Foundation and the family atmosphere in the respective Lodges they call home.
